Japansko severno ostrvo Hokaido pogodio je snažan zemljotres, što je izazvalo klizišta koja su uništila mnoge kuće.
Najmanje je 8 ljudi poginulo, a 40 nestalo, javljaju lokalni mediji.
Zemljotres jačine 6.7 Rihterove skale prekinuo je napajanje oko tri miliona domaćinstava strujom, pošto je elektrana oštećena.
Zemljotres je došao nedugo posle smrtonosnog tajfuna koji je pogodio zapad Japana pre nekoliko dana.
Džebi, najjači tajfun u poslednjih četvrt veka, ubio je najmanje 10 ljudi i izazvao veliku štetu i probleme.

Potres je pogodio oblast koja se nalazi 62km na jugoistočno od glavnog grada Saporo u ranim jutarnjim časovima.
Meteorolozi su upozorili i da postoji opasnost i od cunamija.
Nuklearna elektrana, koja nije u funkciji, morala je da se prebaci na rezervno napajanje kako bi mogla da hladi gorivo.
Meštani i turisti su na društvenim mrežama podelili osećaj šoka koji su doživeli zbog zemljotresa.
Takođe pišu i o dugim redovima za hranu koje ljudi kupuju kako bi imali zalihe u slučaju novih potresa.

Vlasti su upozorile na mogućnost novih potresa i apelovali na građane da budu oprezni.
„Jaki zemljotresi se često dešavaju u roku od dva, tri dana posle ovakvih potresa" rekao je Toshiuki Macumori iz meteorološke agencije, a prenosi AFP.
„Pozvali smo stanovnike da obrate pažnju na seizmičke aktivnosti i da ne odlaze u opasna područja", rekao je on.
Japan je jedna od zemalja koje imaju najjaču seizmičku aktivnost. Ovu ostrvsku državu pogađa 20 odsto svih svetskih zemljotresa jačih od 6.0 Rihtera.
